Live Webinar by Dr. Jeffrey R. Holt: Development of Gene Therapy for Genetic Hearing Loss

Gene therapy has sparked the interest of medical professionals worldwide since it was first developed, and now is being researched as a potential treatment for genetic disorders that previously are with limited access to treatment approaches. Genetic hearing loss, one of the most common genetic disorders, is found to be linked to pathogenic variants in over 150 genes, and gene therapy presents great potential in curing this disease.

“We have an active research group focused on the function, dysfunction and restoration of the auditory system,” as introduced by Dr. Jeffrey, “we want to understand why genetic mutations cause hearing loss and vestibular dysfunction. We are using this information to design novel therapeutic innervations to treat deafness and balance disorders.”

In this live webinar, Dr. Jeffrey will explain his latest work on how gene therapy has become a promising treatment for genetic hearing loss and how his team developed unique gene therapy strategies for genetic hearing loss.
